Texas A&M Basketball Grabs a Spot in Jon Rothstein's Top 15 on Rothstein 45

While Texas A&M's 2023 football season didn't live up to its high-profile preseason promise, there's no need to worry because the 2023-2024 college basketball season is about to kick off. The No. 15-ranked team led by head coach Buzz Williams is ready to face the challenges ahead and work to fulfill preseason expectations.

Looking at the roster, the Aggies return four of their five starters from last season, most notably the preseason SEC Player of the Year, junior point guard Wade Taylor. In the backcourt, all-around veteran guard Tyrese "Boots" Radford brings skill and experience to the court. In stark contrast, the veteran forward duo of Henry Coleman and Julius Marble are virtually unmatched near the basket.

From a depth standpoint, guards Manny Obaseki, Hayden Hefner and rookie shooting guard Bryce Lindsay are always ready to catch fire on the offensive end, while fan-favorite forward Anderson Garcia saved the Aggies a couple of times last season with his exceptional defensive skills. Not only that, but even though the only 2022 starter leaving is Dexter Dennis, who currently plays for the Dallas Mavericks, the transfer market is likely to fill his small forward spot with Eli Lawrence and Jace Carter.

On Tuesday, analyst Jon Rothstein continued his "Rothstein 45" rankings countdown with Texas A&M emerging at No. 13, which has him excited about the Aggies excelling at the end of the 2022 regular season:

"At No. 13 in the Rothstein 45, the Texas A&M team, Buzz's enthusiasm is felt both on and off campus, and for good reason. Buzz Williams and Texas A&M return the highest percentage of any SEC team, and this year's Aggies should be the best team Williams has played since arriving at the school from Virginia Tech. Wade Taylor IV is the next player to pick up that baton, and he is a likely SEC Player of the Year candidate for the 2023-2024 season."

The Texas A&M team reportedly won an in-house warm-up game against Baylor, which continues to heat up the team's expectations. If Rothstein is as excited about Texas A&M as many Aggies fans are, that's certainly a positive sign.
